Haifa is Israel's third-largest city, with about 300,000 residents, consisting of over 100,000 households. Many see Haifa as a model for cultural coexistence. The population is composed
of 82% Jewish, 4% Muslim, and 14% Christian (both Arab and non-Arab). Immigrants from the former Soviet Union now make up 25% of the city's population.
Due to its location next to the Mediterranean and importance as the cultural capital of northern Israel, Haifa is popular with tourists. The city has many museums and cultural centers,
notably of which is the Bahai World Center. Haifa's tourist attractions include also the restored city quarters, historic sites, and wonderful beaches. Nearby attractions include the
Galilee and local Druze villages.
An interactive map of the city, with the location of sites of interest; hotels; information offices;
and transportation facilities, is available at the Haifa Tourists Board.
