Venue & Transportation
Travelling to Haifa: A direct train from the Ben Gurion Airport to Carmel Beach (Hof HaCarmel) Station in Haifa leaves twice an hour during weekdays and every hour during weeknights (weekend schedule is thinner). The journey takes roughly 74 minutes and costs 35.50 NIS (approx. 10 USD $). Buses exist, but are not recommended. Note that the train station is one level down from where you leave baggage claim right outside the building (go through the doors furthest to one's left) See Airport Map. When arriving at the Hof HaCarmel train station, use the beach side exit if you want a taxi. Otherwise use the underpass to get out at the non-beach side of the station (if you exit at the wrong side there is an underpass outside the station as well). Immediately outside the train stations, there is an entrance to the Hof HaCarmel bus station (leave from the exit next to the x-ray machine which is to the left of the turnstiles, the entrance is visible on your right).
Travelling between the train station to your hotel: From the bus station, the No. 3 (Platform 11) and No. 133 or 99 (Platform 14) will take you to the Carmel Center (Merkaz HaCarmel), the location of the conference hotels, within approximately 30 minutes. A taxi, instead of the bus, should cost about 40 to 60 NIS. For a map of Haifa and the hotels please click here (On the map, Dan Panorama is in F8, Dan Carmel is in F7, and Dan Gardens is in G9, the train station is in B10). You may also use Google maps.
Travelling between the train station and the conference venue/dorms: Bus no. 46 will take you from Hof HaCarmel (Platform 16) to the University of Haifa (K16 on the map) within approximately 25 minutes. Its weekday frequency is about twice an hour and it costs 5.70 NIS. A taxi should cost about 40 to 60 NIS.
Travelling between your hotel and the conference venue: Buses from the hotels to the conference venue (and back) will be provided during the conference at specific times. Otherwise, bus line number 37 goes between the hotels and the University of Haifa. On weekdays, there should be a bus every 10 minutes, at a cost of 5.70 NIS. A taxi should cost about 40 to 60 NIS.
Directly by cab: You may choose to take a special cab from the Airport to the University of Haifa or to your hotel. The taxi ride takes about an hour and a half, and should cost approximately 400 to 500 NIS.
