The Department is distinguished by its inter-disciplinary approach to the study of communication, merging research on interpersonal and mass communication, integrating diverse theoretical perspectives on media institutions, media content and audiences, and utilizing varied methodologies.
The research emphasis of our program is expressed in the intensive attention given to our research students, in the extensive mentoring they receive, and in our attempt to expose them to notable international scholars. The department holds a variety of national and international seminars, workshops, and conferences, among them "Communicating" - which has become the central annual meeting of Israeli research students in communication. This diverse activity has brought the department to the forefront of Israeli communication research and has provided it with an international reputation for academic entrepreneurship and innovation. Many of our graduates have continued to advanced studies in the finest institutions of higher learning around the world. Others have began successful careers in the various media professions.
