The Department of Psychology at the University of Haifa is recognized as being among the leading psychology departments in Israel. The academic programs focus on the advancement of scientific research within the varying areas of the field as well as on providing students with basic and advanced skills in the applied areas of psychology.
An M.A. degree is the basic requirement to work in psychology in both the research and applied branches of the field. At Haifa, the B.A. degree is designed to provide an intellectually stimulating educational experience for students while allowing them to reach competence in the rudiments of psychological research. Upon completion of the BA degree in psychology, students are prepared to undertake the specialization of an advanced degree in psychology.
The theoretical, research, and applied aspects of our various programs are firmly rooted in the evolving scientific knowledge base of our field. Alongside this scientific base, we are attentive to the needs of the individual and family, and pay particular attention to the social and cultural needs of a pluralistic and multicultural Israeli society.
The department of psychology invests great effort in the development of quality educational programs, on maintaining high academic standards, and on accepting outstanding students across our various programs. We do this while investing time and effort in marinating a warm and ultimately "student-friendly" department characterized by a variety of opportunities for direct faculty-student contact at all levels of education.
The academic degrees earned in our department are the BA degree, the MA degree, and the PhD degree. In addition, there is an advanced training program in psychotherapy in which a certificate of advanced competence in psychotherapy is earned. Post-doctoral training is available as well.
