The School of Political Science hosted an international online workshop titled “Governance and Public Administration under Democratic Strain.” The workshop brought together leading scholars from Israel and abroad to discuss the role of public institutions during periods of political and democratic strain, focusing on questions of governance, accountability, bureaucratic behavior, institutional resilience, and the capacity of public administration to respond to democratic challenges.
The workshop included three academic panels with presentations by scholars working at the intersection of public administration, governance, and democratic politics. Speakers included Kutsal Yeşilkagit (Leiden University), Alketa Peci (Fundação Getulio Vargas), Gabriela Lotta (Fundação Getulio Vargas), Clareta Treger (the Hebrew University), and others, with comments and discussion led by invited discussants from leading universities and research institutions.
The event drew dozens of participants from around the world, including scholars, students, and practitioners from Israel, Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. The lively discussions reflected the relevance and urgency of the topic, as well as the importance of creating international spaces for scholarly exchange on the challenges facing public institutions today.
בית הספר למדעי המדינה אירח סדנה אקדמית בינלאומית מקוונת בנושא “Governance and Public Administration under Democratic Strain”. הסדנה הפגישה חוקרות וחוקרים מובילים מישראל ומהעולם לדיון בתפקידם של מוסדות ציבוריים בתקופות של מתיחות פוליטית ודמוקרטית, תוך התמקדות בסוגיות של ממשל, אחריותיות, התנהגות בירוקרטית, חוסן מוסדי ויכולתו של המנהל הציבורי להתמודד עם אתגרים דמוקרטיים.
הסדנה כללה שלושה מושבים אקדמיים ובהם הוצגו מחקרים העוסקים בממשק שבין מנהל ציבורי, ממשל ופוליטיקה דמוקרטית. בין הדוברות והדוברים השתתפו קוטסל ישילקגיט (Kutsal Yeşilkagit), אוניברסיטת ליידן; אלקטה פצ'י (Alketa Peci), Fundação Getulio Vargas; גבריאלה לוטה (Gabriela Lotta), Fundação Getulio Vargas; קלרטה טרגר (Clareta Treger), אוניברסיטה העברית; ואחרים, לצד מגיבות ומגיבים מוזמנים מאוניברסיטאות ומוסדות מחקר מובילים.
האירוע משך עשרות משתתפות ומשתתפים מרחבי העולם, ובהם חוקרים, סטודנטים ואנשי מקצוע מישראל, מאירופה, אסיה, צפון אמריקה ודרום אמריקה. הדיונים הערים לאורך הסדנה שיקפו את הרלוונטיות והחשיבות של הנושא, וכן את הצורך ביצירת מרחבים בינלאומיים לשיח אקדמי על האתגרים העומדים בפני מוסדות ציבוריים בעת הנוכחית.
