אודות

Ruth Kimchi is Professor Emerita of Psychology at the University of Haifa. She is the author of over 100 publications in the area of visual cognition, including perceptual organization, visual attention, visual consciousness, perception of hierarchical structure, and holistic/configural processing in objects and faces. Using behavioral methods with normal adults, children and neurological patients, she is seeking to reveal the principles and the processes by which the perceptual system structures visual information into coherent units that eventually we experience as objects in our environment.

Prof. Kimchi is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science (since 2006), recipient of Fulbright Fellowship (1976-1982), Max Wertheimer Lecture (2002), and Rock Memorial Lecture (2013).

She was Head of the Institute of Information Processing and Decision Making (2014-2021) and Co-Director of the Max Wertheimer Minerva Center for Cognitive Processes and Human Performance (2010-2019).

Prof. Kimchi received her BA (1972) and MA Cum Laude (1974) from the Hebrew University, and Ph.D. (1982) from University of California Berkeley.

She was a visiting professor at University of California San Diego (1982-85), Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at UIUC (1993-94), Carnegie-Mellon University (1998-2000), and New York University (2013).
